Tara Grant Memorial 5k and Birthday Dress

I bought a dress to wear to the dinner at Meadowbrook! Let's just say it was a SIZE 5!!! It was the last one left on the rack, so I snatched it and tried it on. Granted, I am NOT a size 5 and I know that this dress was probably cut wrong, but it feels great to buy it. I also bought a pair of size 9 dress pants. Single digits again feels amazing.

Yesterday, I ran my fourth 5k ever.

Here are my times:
Date Time Type Event
5/24/08 Christa  38:56.1 Road Race Rochester Heritage Festival
5/23/09 Christa  35:53.0 Road Race Rochester Heritage Festival
9/24/09 Christa  45:49.9 Trail Race Tara Grant Memorial 5k
9/25/10 Christa l 20:20.0 Trail Race Tara Grant Memorial 5k(ESTIMATED TIME)

Notice that my time is only 20 minutes? Well, the course was mapped wrong, which caused everyone to only run 2 miles. There was a turn where you go to the right for the 10k and to the left for the 5k, and I think the signs were placed too early. They should have been at a further turn down the run. The announcing man said that the signs would be at the 2 and a quarter mile, and I knew that there was no way I was at the 2 and a quarter mile mark at ten minutes.

I'm looking at it optimistically, though. If I would have kept my 10 minute mile pace, I would have crossed the line at around 30 minutes, beating my best road and trail times, making it my best time ever!!

I've also been sick (let's not talk about that fainting situation in front of 26 first graders on my first day of my field..). Turns out that I have an upper respitory infection, and running really made me cough hard for like a half hour after I finished. I wasn't going to sit out after training for so long.

I'm at a standstill with my weight loss. I've been maintaining the same weight (+/- 1 pound) since August 7th. I made myself a goal chart for everyday because I want to see a decent loss this week! Here's what is on my chart:

1. Track Everything 
2. Use only AP’s for weeklies 
3. Drink 8 glasses of water 
4. Exercise at least 30 minutes 
5. 2 Healthy Oils 
6. 2 Milk servings 
7. Plan menu for tomorrow 

There's also a spot on top that says "working for_________________," where I can put a reward for myself if I follow all of these things at least 5 out of 7 days.

5k Training/Updates!

It's been 9 weeks of training for the 5k coming up in just 2 weeks! This past week, I ran the trails 3 times, and the runs all went pretty well. I'm hoping to shave off a few minutes from last year's race. Wish me luck!

The weight loss has been very blah lately. Losing small numbers, gaining small numbers. I haven't been giving it my all, but I also haven't given up. This week, I'm really focusing on getting in more fruits and vegetables, drinking more water, and eating less (crap) snacks.

My lack of working out is also a big factor. Over the summer, I was working out 5-6 days per week. These past few weeks, I've been at 2-3. I'm searching for that balance of food/workout that will help me continue to lose weight. I have to teach science once per week starting soon, and I have a field that I have to go to once per week starting next week. My schedule is only going to get busier, so I need to start working harder to find that balance.

I'm about 10 pounds away from goal and these last 10 have been so hard to lose!

I bought 2 pairs of jeans--one size smaller than I was! Woot!
